About The Course

This is a Continuing Professional Development workshop addressing birth trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the impact a traumatic birth and subsequent mental health problems can have on the postnatal period.

The workshop is suitable for maternity nurses, doulas, breastfeeding consultants and others involved in the care of postnatal mothers at home.

Course Content

The workshop combines theory and case studies to give an overview of birth trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, how a traumatic birth can lead to problems in the postnatal period, the differences between PTSD and PND and where the two may overlap, and the different approaches and referrals which may be helpful for a client with suspected PTSD resulting from a traumatic birth.Practical tips and techniques will be provided on how to support clients following a difficult of traumatic birth, including how to improve sleep and reduce anxiety. Participants will also learn how to create the optimal environment and preparation for a positive birthing experience.

About the trainer

Rosie Goode is passionate about helping women to have a confident and positive birth and is incredibly supportive. She is also a qualified therapist who provides professional help to women going through emotional difficulties after their birthing experiences.She was trained by Marie Mongan, of the HypnoBirthing Institute and has been a Hypnobirthing teacher since 2004. Rosie is one of the UKs most experienced Hypnobirthing Specialists and has taught over 2500 couples, including friends and family of Prince William and Kate, and is recommended by midwives and doctors across London.

Training Location

We are based in London Victoria, about a 10-15 minute walk from the main train station.
